15 January was the application deadline for programmes in the international admission round. We are happy to report that both the total number of applicants and the number of first-choice applicants to the Faculty of Social Sciences' programmes have increased.

The number of first-choice applicants to the Faculty of Social Sciences' programmes has increased by 9% compared to last year, while the total number of applicants has increased by 13%.

The programmes with the largest percentage increases are:

  • Master's Programme in Human Geography, 71 first-choice applicants (+37%)
  • Master's Programme in European Affairs, 132 first-choice applicants (+33%)
  • Master's Programme in Cultural Criminology, 109 first-choice applicants (+33%)

"The increased interest in the Faculty's international master's programmes is further proof that we offer relevant education of high quality", says Björn Badersten, Vice-Dean with responsibility for first and second cycle education.

Two new master's programmes

By 2025, the Faculty offers two new international master’s programmes, both of which attracted a large number of applicants:

  • Human Resources: 240 first-choice applicants
  • Climate Change and Society: 250 first-choice applicants

"It is particularly gratifying that our latest programme additions have reached out to and attracted a significant number of prospective students in a short period of time. The new programmes, as well as the development and quality work that is continuously ongoing within the framework of all our programmes, testify to great creativity and responsiveness, both to the development of knowledge in our subjects and to the needs of the outside world," says Björn Badersten.
