The Academic Appointments Board’s proposals for the appointment of professors are submitted to the Faculty Board which, after taking a position on the proposal, forwards the matter to the vice-chancellor for a decision. The Academic Appointments Board’s proposals for the appointment of senior lecturers are submitted to the dean for a decision.

The board also drafts decisions for the Faculty Board in matters concerning the appointment of readers.

All applications in a round of applications are processed by the Academic Appointments Board at one and the same meeting.

The board is appointed by the Faculty Board and is to be composed of a chair (dean, pro dean or vice dean), three representatives of teaching staff with research expertise and two student representatives. In addition, substitute representatives, at least two for teaching staff with research expertise and at least one for students, are to be appointed. One of the teaching staff representatives is to be appointed as vice chair.
