Publishing your research with open access
The following information is about open access publishing of journals and books, as well as the support offered by the Social Sciences Faculty Library and the University Library.
Open access (OA) means free availability of scientific publications. Most Swedish and European public research funding bodies require that research they fund should be made available with open access immediately upon publication.
National agreements and local support
Lund University has agreements for open access publishing with a large number of publishers via national collaborations, which can sometimes cover some or all of the publication cost. The University also allocates funds to support publication in pure open access journals for authors affiliated with Lund University.
Read more about agreements and support on the University Library website. You can also search for a specific journal title in the Publisher Agreement Journal Search service, to see if it is included in any agreement.

Choosing Creative Commons licences
When publishing open access, it is important to show how your publications may be reused. Many journals and publishers use Creative Commons (CC) licences, which use symbols and abbreviations to explain how a licensed publication may be reused. Sometimes, as a researcher, you may need to choose which licence your publication should have. The least restrictive licence (with attribution) is CC BY and the most restrictive is CC BY-NC-ND. The library will be happy to help you choose a licence, and to check whether your research funder has any specific licence requirements.
