Seminar and Workshop on Large-Scale Survey Design

The Lund Social Science Methods Centre invites you to a seminar and workshop on large-scale survey design with Prof. Jane Green from University of Oxford. Professor Green will discuss the importance for the social sciences of designing and fielding large-scale surveys.
Below you will find more information and a link to register for the seminar and workshop.
Using the British Election Study as a guiding example, Professor Jane Green discusses the challenges and pitfalls regarding survey design. These include, but are not limited to, minimizing potential framing effects, ensuring that the surveys are not too cognitive demanding, and incorporating item response theory into the survey questions and answer choices. Professor Green will also discuss the decision-making process behind the choice of survey questions to include and the themes chosen for each module. The presentation will include a lengthy Q&A session, in which the audience can ask questions about presentation and seek advice on designing their own surveys. The workshop will be open to all academic staff at the Social Science Faculty.
Professor Green will also give a presentation on her research findings using the British Election Study on May 27th, 2025. The presentation will be held at the Department of Political Science, Lund University. The presentation will also be open to all academic staff at the Social Science Faculty. In addition, she will be available for individual meetings to discuss and offer advice on designing surveys.
Professor Jane Green is Professor of Political Science and British Politics at Nuffield College, Oxford, and a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is the co-director of the British Election Study.
