In the temporary art project Skolarbete, artist Loulou Cherinet, in collaboration with the Faculty of Social Sciences at Lund University, Public Art Agency Sweden, and Akademiska Hus, invites residents of Lund, students, and university employees to improvise together.
Using woven willow, clay, hemp, and cow dung, participants will explore how knowledge can be expressed and shared physically, relationally, and with the body as a tool. This will take place during two building sessions on 6–8 September and 6–8 October 2025. The project is part of the development of Lund’s Campus Paradis and an initiative to bring art to campus.
Cherinet describes the project as an investigation into collective improvisation:
“I am inspired by the relationship between planning and improvisation in jazz musicians such as Ornette Coleman. In Skolarbete there is a friction between the predetermined and the unpredictable, a place where the logic of automation is confronted with collective, bodily, and material practices. I am curious about the forms the material will take through our work, and about all the invisible things that emerge in the space between idea and action when people gather in the Campus Paradis to build together.”
The project is a collaboration between Public Art Agency Sweden, Akademiska Hus, and Lund University. The artist is Loulou Cherinet.
