Funding for education-related activities

2024-2025

With this call for applications the faculty wishes to encourage projects and ideas for development activities that promote education in a broad sense.

Funding is available for educational development time, including activities related to widening recruitment and participation, collaboration with external agents and lifelong learning.

Remuneration will be paid for a maximum of 1 month of working time per person, and a total of two months of working time per project. The faculty encourages projects involving people at several departments.

The time is to be used for educational development work, to develop forms of educational collaboration, broadening recruitment/widening participation or lifelong learning.

Please note that development time will not be granted for projects dedicated to regular course development. Please also note that educational collaboration can involve a number of different organisations and agents, but not other higher education institutions.

Who can apply?

Support in the form of development time can be applied for by teaching staff employed for an indefinite term, associate senior lecturers, and technical and administrative staff employed for an indefinite term at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

Funding cannot be applied for to cover the collaboration of external agents.

Applications are to be supported by the relevant head of department/director.

Application

The application is to consist of an action plan for the development work and an account of the purpose of the project, how it contributes to the development of education-related activities and in what way these activities could reinforce the quality and relevance of education. The application is also to account for how the result of the work stands to benefit the entire faculty.

The application may regard a future development project as well as a follow-up of ongoing or completed development work.

The application should be 1-2 pages long.

The application is to be sent digitally to faculty coordinator Marie Steiner, marie [dot] steiner [at] sam [dot] lu [dot] se (marie[dot]steiner[at]sam[dot]lu[dot]se), no later than 30 April 2024.

Assessment

The decision on allocation of development time is taken by the pro dean after preparation by the Council for Educational Development and, if necessary, in consultation with the vice dean for external engagement.

In the assessment of the applications, great importance will be ascribed to the project’s aim, and to the clarity, feasibility and expected effects of the action plan. It is also important to clarify how the entire faculty could benefit from the result of the work.

The decision on allocation will be taken before the end of the spring semester.

Reporting

The development time can be used as of the spring semester 2024 at the earliest. It may be possible to use the time earlier but, in that case, only by special agreement with the head of department.

In connection with the funding being paid out, a report is to be written about the project and its outcome. The report will be published on the faculty's internal website.
