Conference participation support for doctoral students

The Faculty of Social Sciences has identified a need regarding support for doctoral students affected by the Covid-19 pandemic in the years 2020-2022. Doctoral students who have been negatively affected can now apply for funding for international conference participation.

Who can apply for conference participation support?

Doctoral students at one of the departments (or equivalent) at the Faculty of Social Sciences who fulfil the following criteria:

  • were admitted to doctoral studies in 2020 or earlier
  • are registered and have had a study activity level of at least 80% during the period 2020-2021
  • have not yet completed their doctoral studies

Funding and requisition

Doctoral students can receive funding up to a maximum of SEK 15,000 (excluding OH) for costs relating to conferences taking place in 2023 as well as travel and subsistence allowance in connection with the conferences.

The requirement for receiving support is active participation in international research conferences within Europe (excluding Sweden). Active participation is defined as an accepted paper or conference presentation (does not include presentation of a poster).

The department is responsible for ensuring that the conditions above are fulfilled and requisitioning the funding from the faculty office after the conference has finished. The department is to submit information via the form below to helen [dot] wiman [at] sam [dot] lu [dot] se by 31 January 2024 at the latest.
