Courses in Swedish for doctoral students
Would you like to improve your Swedish? This page will inform you about the different options for doctoral students at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
See information about the different courses below. Discuss the course you want to apply for with your supervisor. Course fees for courses offered by Lund University are covered by your department.
1. Swedish for university staff
Depending on your previous knowledge of Swedish you can take courses at five different levels, starting with level 1 for beginners (duration 14 weeks).
When: Afternoon and evening sessions.
Costs: 4 100 each for levels 1–4 and SEK 4 300 for level 5.

2. University credits courses
Short courses (7,5 credits) at beginners and continuation levels. You apply for these courses at Antagning.se. The beginner’s course is called SVEH11.
When: Half day a week.
Costs: Free of charge.

3. Introductory course to the Swedish language, for doctoral students and exchange students
The course is designed to give students a glimpse of Swedish language and Swedish society. The course consists of teaching and exercises in Swedish language proficiency. Students acquire knowledge of everyday phrases and vocabulary so as to be able to communicate in simple everyday situations.
When: One to two weeks before the official start of the semester.

Additionally to the courses above offered by Lund University, there are courses in Swedish offered by Folkuniversitetet. Please note that the course fee for these courses may not be covered by your department.
