Election to Dean, Pro Dean and Faculty Board

The Faculty of Social Sciences has during the autumn 2020 and spring 2021 elected Dean, Pro Dean and Faculty Board for the term 2021-01-01 – 2023-12-31.This page contains information about the election process.

The board members comprise the dean, the pro-dean, six members of teaching staff with research or artistic expertise, two members other staff, two external members and three student representatives.

2021-02-15: Election result, by-election pro dean

The by-election for the pro dean post at the Faculty of Social Sciences is now completed and a public count of votes took place digitally via Zoom on 15 February.

Agnes Andersson Djurfeldt, professor, Department of Human Geography, is proposed as pro dean at the faculty from 1 March. The proposal will be submitted to the vice-chancellor of Lund University for decision.

A summon to by-election for the pro-dean post has been sent by e-mail to the constituency. The Nominating Committee suggestion is: Agnes Andersson Djurfeldt, professor, Department of Human Geography.

The web-based election is being held during the period 22 January - 12 February. All eligible voters can log in to Easyvote with their Lucat ID and find the ongoing elections there.

The faculty pro dean-elect for the term 2021-2023 has been recommended to the position of deputy vice-chancellor of Lund University. The faculty Nominating Committee is therefore preparing a by-election for the pro dean post.

  • Lena Eskilsson is appointed as pro-dean.
  • Anna-Karin Bergman, head of the department for research and development in Helsingborg, is appointed as external member of the Faculty Board.
  • Johan Wessman, CEO at Öresundsinstitutet, is appointed as external member of the Faculty Board.

Who can nominate and vote?

Entitled to vote and nominate are employees of Lund University who are employed at the Faculty of Social Sciences until further notice or for a continuous period of at least two years and whose employment is equal to at least 50 per cent of full-time. Holders of doctoral studentships are not entitled to vote or nominate as they are regarded as students in this context in accordance with Chapter 1 Section 4 of the HEO.

Who is eligible?

The following are eligible for election as dean, pro-dean and representatives of teaching staff with research expertise: professors, senior lecturers, associate senior lecturers or post docs. Dean and pro-dean are appointed by the vice-chancellor after proposal through election at the faculty.

The following are eligible for election as representatives of other employees: employees at the faculty who are not in the category of teaching staff with research expertise.

Appointment of other members of the Faculty Board

The two student representatives are appointed following the rules in 7 § "Studentkårsförordningen" (2009:769).

The two general representatives are proposed by the Nominating Committee and appointed by the Vice-Chancellor.
