Registration is now open for Active Learning in Social Science, a pedagogical course offered for the second year at the Faculty of Social Sciences. The course introduces active learning as an approach to support student centred learning and teaching.

About the course

The course is offered during the autumn semester and is primarily aimed at teachers and doctoral students at the Faculty of Social Sciences. It focuses on active learning principles and methods, with examples from social science teaching contexts. 

Participants will work with practical techniques that can be used in both small and large groups. The course also addresses how active learning activities and courses can be designed and implemented, drawing on experiences from previous course rounds.

Learning activities and course format

The course is taught in English and is based on active participation. Teaching methods include:

  • Flipped classrooms
  • Practical exercises
  • Group work and peer learning
  • Participant presentations

Active participation is expected throughout the course.
