1. How do I apply for a CIM?

2. Can I apply for CIM at the Faculty of Social Sciences even if I am registered as a student at another faculty?

Unfortunately not; you can however apply for CIM at your own faculty.

3. Can I do the same activity over multiple times?

For some activities, this works well, because sometimes multiple sub-activities are required in order to be regarded as one activity. But you cannot count six lectures in Sweden as two different activities, because actually they belong to the same type of activity. Speak with the contact person for CIM at your department, or the CIM coordinator at the Faculty of Social Sciences.

4. I have just registered for CIM but have done international activities earlier in my academic studies. Can I use these?

Yes, you can register activities retroactively as long as you have a clear proof of attendance/participation. But keep in mind that you must have been a student at Lund University when you did the activity.

5. I am now studying at second cycle studies/master’s programme: Can I use studies abroad that I have done at the undergraduate level/first cycle studies via another university?

No, one requirement is that you are enrolled as a student at Lund University during all three of your activities.

That is something you can choose; whichever works best for you.

Yes, this corresponds to one of three lectures in the category of international lectures in Sweden.

8. I will present my experiences abroad to other students by attending events such as International Day, Global Day, etc. Can this count as part of an activity in Sweden?

Yes, this counts as a sub-activity in Sweden. If you make a presentation, this will correspond to 2/3 of an activity for the type of lecture/seminar.

9. I see that three lectures can be counted as one activity in Sweden – do I need to write a reflection after each individual lecture or is a comprehensive report of all together sufficient?

Your reflections on the three sub-activities are there to support you, and therefore you can choose for yourself how you think best to do it. The reflections you make on the various activities during your academic studies will help you write the final report, i.e. your CIM application. Get in touch with the CIM contact person at your department if you are unsure.

10. Can I count an international conference abroad that is not related to my formal education?

Yes, if the subject of the conference is relevant and if you share your experiences in seminars or otherwise with fellow students within your educational programme.

11. What are the reflection questions that I will be responding to in my CIM application?

Describe the activities and illustrate with concrete examples:

• what lessons you have learned via your international activities
• how the activities have contributed to increased knowledge and awareness of various international perspectives
• what intercultural challenges you have faced and how you have dealt with them.

Finally, reflect on how you can use these lessons learned in your future education and/or profession.
