SUMMARY:Skill School workshop series: Digital Ethnography
DESCRIPTION:Contact: skillschool@sam.lu.se\n\nBelow is a short summary and
a link to Skill School's webpage where you will find more info and registe
r for this and other Skill School workshops.Ethnography is a broad\, inter
disciplinary research strategy that seeks to generate contextual knowledge
about social worlds based on the immersion of the researcher into those w
orlds. In its classical (perhaps\, analogue) version\, researchers working
in an ethnographic key commit themselves to ‘being there’ and ‘gett
ing close’ to the everyday lives of the people\, practices or places the
y study. Focusing on ambiguity\, mess and mundanity\, ethnographic researc
h is celebrated for putting the ‘life’ back into everyday life and the
‘social’ back into social science. &nbsp\;The course may be especiall
y interesting for participants who are planning to conduct fieldwork that
requires some degree of ethnographic sensibility or a working on an otherw
ise immersive qualitative research project. But eventually\, anyone intere
sted in the epistemological\, political and ethical implications of studyi
ng politics and power through immersion in both online and offline worlds
will be most welcome.&nbsp\;&nbsp\;Time: 13:15-16:00 both daysInstructor:
