Tomas Ramberg has been involved in Radio Sweden’s news service, Dagens Eko (Ekot), since the early 1990s. For a ten-year period, he hosted Ekot’s Saturday interview programme. Ramberg currently works as national political commentator on the Ekot editorial staff. He is also a frequent contributor to the podcast radio programme Det politiska spelet (The Political Game).

The motivation for the decision is that Tomas Ramberg has contributed to raising the level of political debate in Sweden. His journalism is characterised by an analytical approach. In a society where debate is becoming increasingly heated and harder to grasp for many people, Ramberg helps his listeners to understand the underlying conflicts and major events in Swedish politics. In his work as a journalist, Ramberg thus demonstrates his considerable analytical skills and conveys important knowledge in the field of social sciences.

By naming Tomas Ramberg as an honorary doctor, the Faculty of Social Sciences in Lund wishes to highlight and show appreciation for Ramberg’s contribution to knowledge development in Swedish politics and Swedish social life.

Tomas Ramberg will receive the distinction at the doctoral degree conferment ceremony in Lund on 24 May 2019.
